In this sermon, David Platt uses the story of Ruth to talk about the love of God in our lives. In addition, this sermon talks intensely about purity in juxtaposition of what culture expects from us. Using the story of Ruth, Platt shows how God uses a story of sexual impurity to bring purity back to Israel. In today’s culture, sexual impurity is common and accepted. Nearly every television show has some element of impurity and the majority of us are jaded to it. We misconstrue it as love, instead of the impurity that it is. Platt challenges these social norms, and endorses living a more Christian lifestyle, one that is averse to the patterns of the world and does not conform to them. He encourages us to live as salt and light instead of passively accepting, or actively endorsing the way that society has chosen to live.
