A fellowship church is one in which the members have as one of their highest priorities fellowship; one of the five main
purposes on the church. A fellowship church believes that one of the most important things they can do as a church to
follow God's will is to have fellowship one with another. God is a personal God. He loves his people and he wants his
people to love each other the way that he loves them. God gave his only son Jesus to this world because he knew we people
were unable to please God ourselves in the way he deserves because we have the problem of sin in our lives. When God gave
his son to us, he knew Jesus would live a perfectly righteous life and would not sin. Jesus thereby pleased God himself,
in a way that no other person would ever be able to do. Not only that, but because of the sin in our lives, we people
could not accept Jesus and we had him tortured and killed. Through Jesus' death on the cross, God placed on him all the
sins of people everywhere, thereby by making us righteous as well, all of us who have placed our faith in Jesus and accepted
him as our Savior and Lord. This great gift of us from God of his only Son Jesus, showed us how much he loved us. It is
God's love for us that motivates us to love each other as well. A fellowship Church is so named because it places such a
high priority on our love for each other that stems from how much we know God loves us.
In a Fellowship Church, the activities are largely centered around times of worship, prayer, enjoyment, and recreation.
Activities can be as diverse as are the churches in our country. Any activity that foster a spirit of mutual encouragement,
edification, enjoyment, and comradeship might take place at these churches. Many fellowship churches are found in newer
faster growing communities. These types of communities often have new people, and the people who live their find themselves
more and more isolated from people as a consequence of rapid growth of commuting, high pressure jobs, etc. A Fellowship Church
offers to its members a place of solace, away from the busyness of their fast moving world. People need each other. Areas
where the structure of the society and culture are structured such that interpersonal relationships are more challenging;
these are the areas where a fellowship church can be very effective. The members of these churches relish the fellowship
that their church offers.
Many types of people live all around us. Diversity is here to stay in our country. Places in our society that embrace to
needs of people to love and be loved by others, like a fellowship church, offer a great service to these people, all under
the umbrella of our relationship to God and as we live in his love.
