Church Fellowship

The Bible teaches that God is a personal God. God created this world along with people, so that he could have a relationship with us: so that we could know him and be loved by him and so that he could love us. Church fellowship is a big part of the church's mission on earth. Church fellowship is that characteristic of the church whereby the members know and love one another, and this love for each other flows out of God's love for us. The Church is God's family of believers here on the earth. The church's mission on earth is further communicate God's desire to have all people be in a relationship with him. One of the biggest ways that the church communicates to the rest of the world this desire on God's part, is how we in the church love each other. Church fellowship is term that describes this love that church member have for one another.

How does Church fellowship play out in the day to day world of Christians? Its starts with the commitment each Christian feels to love other Christians. This commitment to love each comes from the commitment each Christian feels to love God and to be loved by him. God loves other people and therefore so should we. This commitment on our part to love each leads us to spend time with each other. When we spend time with other Christians we celebrate with them in their blessings in life, and we sympathize with them in their challenges and suffereings. We pray for others in their times of need, and we help them in their challenges by giving them our time and physical assistance in whatever ways they need. Many times Church fellowship consists of planned activities at the church where the church members get together to participate in these common activities. Some examples are Christmas parties, weekly times of prayer and visitation, etc. These activities of church fellowship are organized by the leaders of the church, and many times these activities take place on the church property: in the fellowship areas of the church. These areas often include a place of food service, where the members can sit down and have a meal with each other, or in places of recreation where the members can play games or sports with each other.

Church fellowship often creates an atmosphere of love, kind feelings, and goodwill towards each other. It is in this atmosphere of goodness that Christians are free to behave as people in the way in which God created us. Jesus said that we are to love one another, and by doing so the whole world will know that we are his disciples. As Christians our primary goal is to be like Jesus on earth, to do the things he taught us, and he taught us to love one another. Church fellowship is the way that we Christians love each other. By doing so we are loving God and being loved by him.
