After more than 260 years of Christian service in the Middletown Valley of Maryland, Zion Lutheran Church is embracing the future. Zion has been a part of the journey of faith by families for generations. Founded in 1740, Zion has retained its rich heritage and faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Our mission is to share God's word with others and bring God's love expressed to others through our love and care. We invite you to join us in our s piritual growth and participation in religious services weekly. Hours for Christian Education on Sundays are for all age groups.

Zion Lutheran Church focuses on the person and work of Jesus Christ. We believe that God is three in one or triune, one in three. We believe that the Son of God became man to suffer and die for the sins of the world so that all who believe in Him should not perish. Through His replacement at the cross for us, we receive forgiveness and life eternal. Lutherans believe that salvation was possible to its fullest by the work of Jesus Christ. Hence the evangelical term, Christ alone. Lutherans believe that we, by God's grace and forgiveness, can be saved through works of His justice. By personal acts to follow Jesus, we are not punished for our past, but are saved through the works of the fully God. Thus, this gives rise to the Lutheran statement of Grace alone. Lutherans believe that faith in Jesus is essential for salvation. However, we understand that trust is the work of God, and that the Holy Spirit works through the Scriptures and the Sacraments to create this kind of belief.
