242 Community Church began as a prayer. This prayer was for a community of people who whole-heartedly followed Christ and were radical and innovative in their approach to the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. The prayer lingered for years without what looked like any progress. States away God was beginning to create a team of people to help realize that prayer. After some time a move date was set and 30 people moved to Brighton MI from Kentucky Ohio and Illinois. 242 Community Church launched on February 13 2005 and has been going strong ever since. In the fall of 2008 242 began the launch teem meetings for 242:A2; a brand new campus in Ann Arbor. The Ann Arbor campus started in March ?09 and we?ve been able to see more and more people take next steps with God.

What Makes Us Special

David Dummitt

Hello and welcome to 242 Community Church. I?m David Dummitt, the Lead Pastor and we?re glad you decided to stop by our website. What can you expect when you show up on a Sunday morning? Well, we aren?t going to embarrass you by having you stand, raise your hand or put on a visitor hat. We want you to feel at home. Our weekend services are designed to present basic biblical truths and how they apply to our everyday lives. They reflect our belief that you shouldn?t have to disconnect from the things you enjoy, the music you like or your sense of humor just because you are in church.

Our community is built around one simple goal, to ?help people take next steps with God.? We believe, wherever you are in life, there?s a next step that you can take. It could be to apologize to that co-worker, come back to church again or move to Africa to start a mission. We encourage the people we come in contact with to Celebrate in a weekly service, Connect in a small group and Contribute to the work of God in our community and around the world. We call those our three Cs.

Welcome to 242 Community Church.

The ?242? comes from Acts 2:42-47 in the Bible.

?They devoted themselves to the apostles? teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people, and the Lord added to their number daily, those who were being saved.?

We believe this example is the best way to help people take next steps with God and that?s the beauty of it. God asks that we take next steps with Him. That step could simply be coming back to church next week, joining a small group or moving to Africa to start an orphanage. We believe that God gave each of us a passion and a purpose for how he wants to change the world and we want to help you fulfill that.
